Ravi Representing The Ethnic Communities Of Coventry On SCG

Last updated : 28 September 2014 By SCG

The SCG is made up of representatives from a wide spectrum of Sky Blues supporters. Ravinder Singh Takhar’s roots are in Punjab and he is a Sikh. Having graduated from Loughborough University, he spent several years in the online gaming industry in Gibraltar and Dublin before returning to Coventry, where he was born and raised, in 2011.

“My interest in the SCG is to represent the ethnic communities of Coventry,” says Ravi. “I strongly feel they are under-represented around the club and we can do more to gauge their interest. We are lucky to live in such a culturally diverse city with people from so many backgrounds and cultures.”

Ravi added: “Through the football club we have something that transcends social and cultural barriers to give the people of Coventry a common interest which can strengthen our communities. The beautiful game extends far beyond the pitch and I find it wonderful seeing people from different backgrounds discovering common interests like football.”

“The SCG exists for supporters and provides the ideal platform for consultation with the fans. There are a lot of fans in the ethnic communities who could benefit by more involvement in the club. Equally, the club will benefit with a stronger fan base. It can only be a win win!”
