Coventry City captain Carl Baker joined the majority of City supporters, Northampton fans and neutrals in critcising the referee for City's 1-1 draw against Oldham Athletic - Dean Whitestone.

Baker told Geoff Foster of BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "It was the same referee who sent me off at Leyton Orient so I’d better not say anything but I don’t think the ref did us any favours.

“I asked him about the foul and he said that the ball was going wide and Callum wasn’t going to get on the end of it.

“If he knew how fast Callum was he would maybe have thought differently. I do know that he would definitely have got to the ball – whether he would have had the angle to score is a different question but in my opinion it was definitely a goal-scoring opportunity.

“Their keeper was taking so long; you could hear our fans counting out the seconds and I think at any other time it would have been a yellow card.

“I told the referee he was taking the mick because he knew he wasn’t going to get a second yellow but the ref said he was inside the time limit so if he’s right our fans can’t count to twelve.”
