Peter Reid was finding it hard to explain how City again threw the points away at Derby.
He said: "I’ve said it several times this season - we lacked professionalism. "We’re two goals up and we get the ball down in the bottom corner and one of my players tries to flick it, instead of keeping hold of it and kicking it down to the other end – we paid the penalty for that. "We had our chances and yet again it was a game which we should have taken three points from, but we’ve only come away with one.
"You can’t legislate for giving the ball away at that stage of the game when you are two nil up and you should keep it." "Anything can happen in those circumstances. Even at two each – they have had a chance and we have had a chance. It turned into that sort of game and it shouldn’t have been that sort of game because it should have been dead.
"We played well again but we are not winning. Sometime when you don’t play well, you manage to dig results out, but we are playing well and not winning games. When you look at Crewe as well as this game, I believe it is five points dropped over the two fixtures. That’s disappointing, because those five points get you right in with a shout. It’s very frustrating."
"I thought Dele was terrific – it was a great display by the boy. Since he has come back, he looks a different player in terms of confidence and he has been a major plus for us. I thought he was possibly the best player on the park. "It’s not very often I am lost for words but I am after that. I can’t come up with a reason – it’s just two points thrown away by a team who deserved to win."
