Peter Reid said after the 3-1 defeat at Gillingham: "We didn't stand up to Gillingham and we got punished.
"I told the players to expect a physical game but we didn't deal with them and Gillingham wanted it more than us.
"You've got to earn the right to play good football through endeavour but we didn't do that. I thought we were the better team in the first half but it was a poor goal to concede and we were disappointed to go a goal down.
"I told the players again that it would be tough at the start of the second half and within five minutes we were 3-1 down.
"We're in a battle now and we need battlers. I need good players who want to win football matches and Gillingham wanted to win that game more than us."
