Peter Reid wants to extend the loan spells of keeper Luke Steele and defender Matthew Mills.

The City boss said: "We've got Luke Steele until January, and Matthew Mills for a month, but I'm hopeful that we can do something to keep them a bit longer.

"We keep in contact with their respective clubs - I know both their managers and I think they're pleased with the education they're getting. "I don't know how long I will be able to keep them, but that's the job I've got at the moment; that's the situation we're in as a football club.

"There's no use moaning about it because it's happened before to other managers here with players like Richie Partridge. Finances dictate that Champ-ionship clubs have got to work like that and there's nothing you can do about it - you've just got to get on with it.

"Luke hass been fantastic since he came to the club. "It's always difficult to say how far young keepers can go but when I was manager of Sunderland I brought in a 19-year-old from Blackburn called Shay Given who's gone right to the top. I've got to say that Luke is certainly right up there with Shay at that age." .
