Speaking to Sky Blue Player, Boothroyd explained: "We had a few days off (following Barnsley) because over Christmas whilst people were eating Turkey and enjoying the James Bond film on the TV, we were training and getting ready for games. If you win at this time you bounce along but when you don't it gets harder and harder to bounce back from the knock downs."
The City boss admitted that the few days break had given him a new perspective and he continued to Sky Blue Player: "Perspective. The perspective is that we have played three of the top teams in the division and had to deal with ten men for over ninety-minutes of the three games and even with how poorly we played at Barnsley we still created chances and could have come away with something.
"The few days off has shown that, as I've told the players, is the need to return to the fundamentals and in particularly look to keep the ball better.
"We have, however possibly not carried the injuries or suspensions over the past few weeks as well as we should have and like always we have things we must improve on."
