Gillingham Assistant Manager David Kerslake felt that the result was the most important thing in his side's 2-1 victory over lowly Coventry City at Priestfield.
Speaking to the Press Association, Kerslake said: "Billy Knott was outstanding all game," said Kerslake. "He's a terrific footballer but he put in a shift and a half without the ball and capped it off with a beautifully-taken goal.
"The result was the most important thing. We're nowhere near our best football-wise but we ran a long way without the ball in midweek, so a little fatigue took in.
"But if we work hard and grind teams down, once we can do that, the players will play with more of an open spirit."
