Coventry City manager Mark Robins said that Burton Albion were a good team as the Sky Blues went down to a 1-0 defeat at the Pirelli Stadium.

Robins told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: “They are a good team.

“They move the ball really well, so to cope with that and make sure we were in a good position defensively to break that up, I thought we did that brilliantly in the first half.

“But there’s another element to it then, because once you get into your positions and break off it really well, which we did in the first half, we didn’t take our chances.

“We probably had three or four where the goalkeeper has made probably three decent saves and then we have made some poor choices as to where we passed the ball. But we looked a threat and kept their chances down to a minimum.

“But bear in mind these are a decent team who have just come down from the Championship and they have got some good quality in the team.

“And they have moved us around, probably better than any other team has done so far this season.

"Again, there’s another element to that because you allow that to happen but then you have to release off it. Once you have done your defensive work and contained them, you have then got to try to take the game to them.

“You have got to stop them from playing but then work your way up the field. The second half came around and they put us on the back foot a little bit.

“We managed to get through a sticky spell in the first 15 minutes and we came out of that and looked fairly lively again, created bits and pieces but nothing like in the first half.

“Again, you can’t be content just to sit in front of them. You have got to come out and try and cause them problems as well when you have got the ball.

“We did that in the first half but in the second we didn’t do it enough.

“And then we went a goal down to an own goal.

“Just looking at the spaces and the positions we were in for the ball coming in, I think we were just half a yard or a yard wrong.

“We were too close to the ball but that’s nitpicking because it was a good delivery in and then Tom Bayliss has got his head to it.

“If he hadn’t got a flick on that we had Jonson Clarke-Harris waiting to head the ball behind him.

“But the game wasn’t finished then. You are looking to get back into it and that was the disappointment.

“The changes were made and players were guilty of not having enough thought because there was a lot of room on the pitch.

“They (Burton) have condensed it and tried to keep us on one side of the pitch, so instead of throwing it down the line you have got to get out the other side and create problems for them. But we didn’t do it enough.

“I just thought we were a little bit lax and wayward with some of the passing. But, again, we have come up against a really good team.”
