Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that the Sky Blues are not in a position where they have to sell players but any club inerested in a City player will have to come up with a figure the club are looking for.
Speaking at the kit launch tonight, Mark Robins told Harry Roberts that the Sky Blues have offered a new deal to Marc McNulty who has been the subject of interest from Reading FC and said: “At the end of the day every player has a value, and that’s not an invitation for a ‘come and get me,’ or anything like that. I want to keep all the best players.
“From my point of view I have got a good relationship with all the players. I spoke to Sparky (McNulty) last night and we do talk about things.
“I am open and honest and if a club hits a number then I will speak to the player and say they have hit the number and they can go and speak to them.
“But, ultimately, it’s about them knuckling down and working as hard as they possibly can.
“Listen, everybody wants to play at the highest level and if a Premier League team comes in for one of the players then they are going to want to play at the highest level.
“But they have got to hit the number if our players are under contract.
“We are not in a position where we have to sell or have to sell a number of our players who performed to a really high level last season.
“Sparky knows how I feel about him and what I want to happen with him. I want him to lead the line for us again and continue his development.
“He’s a 25-year-old with a lot of time still left and who knows.
“At this stage he’s our player and our player for another two years.”
