Coventry City manager Mark Robins felt that the Sky Blues showed Tottenham Hotspur too much respect in the first half of their 3-0 FA Cup Third Round defeat.
Clint Dempsey scored twice in the first half along with Garth Bale to send City in 3-0 down at the break.
Speaking to Sky Blue Player's Nick Connoll, the City boss said: "We did much better in the second half because in the first half we gave them too much respect and you have to get tighter to your opposition than we did.
"You can't do what we did in the first half to a team with top European players because they will punish you.
"The second half we seemed to get something going and gave a decent account of ourselves but at the same time I can't be too critical because Tottenham were fantastic."
