The Sky Blue Trust has been in regular contact with all the local authorities in the Coventry area concerning the prospect of CCFC building a new stadium and all have reported that, to date, there has been no contact between them and the club.
The councils that were contacted were Coventry, Stratford, Solihull, Warwickshire, Daventry, Rugby, Warwick, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Hinckley and Bosworth and North Warwickshire. Each was asked specifically if “In the period from 4th March 2014 until 14th August 2014, whether members, officers or other representatives of the council had taken part in any discussions, meetings or correspondence with Coventry City Football Club, Otium Entertainments Ltd, SISU Capital, CBRE or any individuals or companies acting on their behalf” – a negative response was received for every council.
Last month Tim Fisher is reported as saying “We have had meetings this week and I am currently focused on the land deal. It has been made clear the Ricoh Arena is not for sale which we fully respect and ACL understand we need to seek our own revenues. Outside of match days we have 340+ days where we generate no revenues and this hamstrings us as a club so we need those year-round revenues.”
The Sky Blue Trust will continue in its on-going dialogue with the club and all local councils and will monitor the situation with interest
