Teddy Sheringham will decide on his future by the end of the week. Both City and West Ham are reported to by vying for the services of the 38 year old with Millwall now seemingly out of the picture.
The former England international's agent Barry Neville said: "Something will be announced before the end of the week."
The odds appear stacked in City's favour as Sheringham would not be a popular player at Upton Park due to having played for local rivals Millwall and Tottenham.
