Tim Sherwod has been given the number 14 shirt. The midfielder signed with City yesterday following his contract with Portsmouth expiry on July 31st and meant that he was not eligible for a squad number when they were originally announced.
Sherwood Gets His Number
Meanwhile,City have announced that the attendance for the Norwich home match on Saturday was 5,484. Peter Reid was happy with the performance in that game and said: ""I thought it was a decent game under the conditions and considering it was a 0-0 draw. I think Norwich are a week behind in terms of fitness and that might have shown but I was pleased with the way my players acquitted themselves. "The biggest thing is we created chances, we couldn’t stick one in but we kept a clean sheet at the other end."
"It was great that the players who’ve been struggling with injuries, Tim Sherwood, Stephen Hughes and Michael Doyle got games under their belts.
"When Calum Davenport came off with a bit of a groin strain I thought the boy Whing who went in at centre-half did fantastically well for us, so that was a nice little bonus. "We changed the system a bit, I just wanted to have a look at 4-3-3 come 4-5-1 when we haven’t got that ball and I was quite pleased with the way it went.
"It’s vital to get off to a winning start. You look at the next game and it’s a big one, an important one against Sunderland at home for the start of the Championship and we need to get a positive result."
