The underfire City manager has stated on a number of occasions that he sees the former England midfielder as part of the spine of his team and said: "We'll review the situation in the New Year. Tim has been working very hard in the gym so we'll let a specialist have a look at him and hopefully get the all-clear for him to get back to full training."
