John Sillett has also put himself forward to help City select a manager.
Sillett who has been scouting for England boss Sven Goran Eriksson told the CET: I would be only too proud to be consulted and I think it is a great idea to get football people involved in the selection process because I don't think there are too many of them on the board.
"Standards need to be set and I think coaching ability and motivational skills should be key qualities.
"They must also be a good judge of talent. Managers always make mistakes on players but the club have to find someone with a great record in finding good ones - a good percentage of success.
"They also need to be good tactically and, I believe, they should have some experience rather than being fresh from playing and going into their first manager's position.
"Players never know how hard it is to go off a training pitch and back to the office to pick the team when you have got players knocking on your door wanting to know why they are not getting a game.
"There is coaching to sort out and you have to get to know your players and get them to like you as a manager which can be very difficult."
