Speaking to his local paper - The East London Guardian, Donovan Simmonds has said that he is looking forward to playing for the Sky Blues.
The striker who impressed during end of season reserve team friendlies at Leamington and Nuneaton said: I'm very happy and excited to have signed for Coventry. "It is sad to leave Charlton. I've been there so long, it was like a big family at the club. "In the end with all the changes of management this season that the family thing has just fallen apart, but there are friends there that I'm going to miss, but you just have to move on.
Simmonds On City Move
"Even before the exit trials at Lilleshall, Coventy were in touch. "The manager Iain Dowie was previously at Charlton and he knew all about me. I know that he's a very dedicated manager and he wants hard workers. "I know that he liked me from before and because I know him and the kind of manager he is I wanted to go to Coventry City. "They're not in the Premier League, they're in the Championship, but there are opportunities for me.
"This season, I want to get a few first team performances and starts. I want to get my name known. "Long term, I want to play for my country, play in the World Cup. "Coventy is a long way from home but I'm looking forward to it. I can focus and concentrate on what I have to do."
