Coventry City Council Leader and City supporter for coming up to sixty years John Mutton has urged SISU to 'get their heads out of their backsides' and return to the table to discuss a new rent deal.
On Tuesday, Coventry City Council paid the outstanding mortgage to Yorkshire Bank, using an unspent cash balance, which has secured the future of Arena Coventry Limited and prevented the Ricoh Arena management company from going in to administration and SISU or any other group from getting the Ricoh Arena on the cheap.
What the deal has left is room for the rent which SISU had the chance to sort out when they took over the club,
City and their SISU owners currently are supposed to pay around £1.2m a year in rent but have refused to do so, paying only match day costs to the tune of around £7k per game.
City have made it clear that they think they should be paying the same rent as the six clubs in League One who pay rent for their stadiums. Although, not one of the six or any club in the division can offer the capacity or facilities that the Ricoh Arena has.
