As reported on this site yesterday, Coventry City players returned to the club's Ryton training ground on Monday to start in a gruelling series of fitness tests
City's new manager is keen to run his eye over the squad and introduce the new players to the the team. He needs to know what condition the players are in after their summer break and will put them though a tough pre season training regime which will include physical work and ball skills.
The squad were recalled a week early so Boothroyd could get to know them as he has yet to meet all of them. He also wants to see for himself the quality and fitness levels of the players he has inherited.
"Most of the players will be back this week and will be undergoing a series of physical tests to see where they are at and the standard they are up to,"said Boothroyd. "I want to get a good look at the players this week and then we will get the ball out on Thursday."
