Coventry City manager Russell Slade was delighted with the 2-1 win over Gillingham.
Slade said about the win which saw Kwame Thomas and George Thomas score before a goal from Max Emher had the City support biting their nails for the final thirty five plus minutes.
Speaking to BBC Coventry & Warwickhire, Slade said: “The first-half performance was really strong. We dominated, got some quality balls into the box, scored two and possibly could have another two. On a difficult surface we mixed play up well – got it down when we could and when it was difficult and bouncing and it was a fight in there we played balls down the side. It was very pleasing.
“In the second half they threw the kitchen sink at us and got a goal quickly which gave them impetus to get at us.
"We hung on in there – so often we haven’t –and even though they were pouring the ball into our box there were three or four opportunities to wrap the game up. But with Coventry City we don’t always do things easy!
“I’m delighted with the three points, slightly upset we haven’t got six from the last two games which would have been a good return and a deserved one for the commitment shown.”
