Slade: We're Not Going Home And Forgetting It

Last updated : 11 February 2017 By CNS Sport

Coventry City Manager Russell Slade will have his players in at 10am tomorrow morning  in a bid to cut out the errors which saw City go down to a 3-2 defeat at Oldham Athletic.

"I wish in a way we were rubbish all the time because then we’d know where the faults are,” said Slade to BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

" Sometimes we play to a real decent standard but then we let our standards slip. "It’s a mental weakness.

" What frustrates me more than anything is that we stick to a game plan at times and when we're on it, we're doing well but we let our standards slips because of a lack of appreciation for doing the basics.

"Like the third goal – we haven’t laid a glove on him and that frustrates the hell out of me.

''I don’t get that.. "I don’t see why players can’t see that.”

Speaking about what the City support felt was a blatant foul on Reice Charles-Cook which led to Oldham's second goal. Slade commented:  " It could have been a foul. Some referees are going to give it. Some aren't but those fine decisions haven't been going our way but when you are 2-1 down,, what you don't want to do is to go 3-1 down in the next two minutes.

"Keep it tight and then that header that goes in gets us on level terms.

“It was a great second goal to get back in it and we start dominating again but it’s that inconsistency, not just in games but in moments.

"We have give minutes of madness and find ourselves 3-1 down.

" We were unlucky not to score four goals today and we pummelled them at the end but it's hard when you are chasing the game like this. We have to do it consistently.

"You can’t do this job full-time, you’ve got to be on it for 96 minutes.

"It’s relentless, it’s ruthless and things won’t go your way unless you make them go your way.

“I’ve got two really good players unavailable in [Stuart] Beavon and [Jordan] Willis but I’m not going to stand here and make excuses because the numbers don’t lie.

“We have to keep going, keep working.

"We’ll be in at 10.00am tomorrow to go through it because we’re not going home and forgetting about it.
