Sordell Did Alright - Mowbray

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that Marvin Sordell did alright for the Sky Blues in their 2-1 win at Nuneaton Town.

Sordell, who only played the second half, had a handful of chances in the game and speaking about him, Tony Mowbray said to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “He was all right. He’s only had a few training sessions with the players and, if anything, he got a bit isolated in the second half when a few of the younger players didn’t really grasp their roles.

“But it was fine and what I have seen so far has been flashes of real excitement and fast feet and clinical striking of the ball. He has to find his feet with the group so he knows which players he can trust to play with but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And come Christmas we’ll know whether Marvin is going to threaten to get 20 goals or whether he’s still stuck on two. Let’s see how we go with it.

“For me, he wants to kick-start his career back to the levels back to what it was. The job for me is to keep his mentality and focus right so that the days he’s not doing so well or the team aren’t quite functioning well he’s still working hard for the team and not thinking it’s everyone else’s fault.

“He has to be part of the team and respect everyone in the group and realise we are a League One outfit working hard to create chances for him to score. I have had a good chat to him and I am sure it will go well for him.”
