It is with great pleasure that Coventry Sphinx Football Club wishes to announce that Dannie Cahill has taken up the role as Chairman with immediate effect.
Dannie has spent many years within the club holding several roles. The last few years he held the position as the CEO within the senior section. Before that he was Chairman of the Junior section for 10 years and managed the transformation of increasing the number of teams from 3 to an impressive 15.
He was instrumental in the Juniors being awarded the FA Charter, the first club in Coventry. He has Sphinx blood running through his veins and is relishing the challenges that lay ahead.
"This is a great club and I see it as a great honour to take on this massive responsibility. There are a lot of dedicated people involved up and down the ranks of the club who deserve continued success and I will hopefully enhance an promote the club to a higher level"
Dannie's first job is to find a new manager following the departure of Danny McSheffery and Lee Knibbs.
"to find a replacement for Danny Mc and Lee is a tall order. Both have carried out their tenure with great passion and commitment often putting the Club first.
Money can't buy that..
"I'm sure everybody will join me in thanking them both for the great strides they have achieved for the club. They both leave for reasons that are fully understandable; they can leave with their heads held high. The important thing here is that they will always have Coventry Sphinx FC in their hearts and will be involved in some way or another in the future"
The Committee have reacted quickly and are due to announce their new manager shortly…
"it is Vital we get a replacement soon so that he can start and plan for next season. We are not jumping in with a knee jerk reaction and fill the role quickly. We owe it to our players and supporters to find the right person and help plan our strategy for our short and long term objectives."
