Sphinx Beaten At Westfields

Coventry Sphinx lost their biggest Midland Alliance game of the season when they were beaten 3-2 at Westfields.

Danny McSheffrey's side had travelled to Hereford as league leaders and got off to a great start when Luke Williams fired Sphinx ahead in the fifth minute.

A crowd of 209 saw Anthony Robins level in the ninth minute only for  another penalty to be awarded. This time, it was to Sphinx in the 25th minute and Luke Williams made no mistake from the spot.

Sphinx had most of the play but in the 70th minute, Scott Jackson levelled and five minutes later, Westfields won the match when Richard Lear scored to condemn Sphinx to a 3-2 defeat.

Westfields now top the Midland Alliance table by two points from Sphinx.
