Coventry Sphinx were beaten 2-1 by Worcester City this afternoon.
With Lynton WIlkinson and Tom Cudworth taking the team, a young Sphinx side took on a young Worcester City side which included former Coventry City youngster Ben Maund.
It was Maund, who was released by City had the first chance volleying wide in front of a decent crowd, many of whom had been on the Sky Blue Trust march at Sphinx Drive.
Worcester created a corner and took the lead in the 23rd minute with a free kick from twenty yards.
It could have been more had a Worcester defender got his header from a 28th minute free kick on target.
But boosted by this, Sphinx came back into the match and for half an hour, played the better football.
Sphinx keeper Carl O'Neil did have to make one blinding save but in the 64th minute, Sphinx were level when Rickie Cutting turned inside the area and fired into the net.
Worcester replaced Maund in the 69th minute and then won a corner five minutes later which was not defended well and an unmarked Worcester player was left to tap home and give Worcester the win in an entertaining game.
