Former Coventry City defender Colin Hawkins is now playing for Sporting Fingal in the Airtricity League of Ireland.
Hawkins has been playing for the Dublin based club for a few weeks and played agaiinst Portuguese side CS Maritimo in a game where he suffered broken ribs which have kept him out of league encounters against Shamrock Rovers and his home town club Galway United.
Hawkins had two spells at Coventry City. He started with City's youth team but was released in 1997. He returned to Ireland and played for St Patricks Athletic until he was back over the water for a season at Doncaster Rovers.
It was back to Ireland for spells with Bohemians and Shelbourne before he was back in Coventry in January 2007, this time at the club's new Ricoh Arena home. Hawkins did well making 12 appearances until he picked up an Achillies injury. Then with Dowie sacked and Chris Coleman in charge, he was clearly not in the frame and allowed to join Brighton.
Hawkins had a two year deal at The Seagulls and when that expired he went home to Ireland once more and joined Sporting Fingal.
