Coventry City's newest addition, striker Jon Stead has spoken of his desire to help his new club make a late push up the Championship.
The 26 year old said the move to Coventry is a boost to his confidence because he thinks his new club is going places.
Stead spoke of his aims and desires, saying to the CT, "Coventry City is a new challenge for me and I'm looking forward to hopefully getting some games, doing well and helping in any way I can for the final push of the season. Six goals this season is probably not as many as I would have liked but I think I've started probably double that anyway so you always look at your ratio."
"I've been in and out of the Ipswich team this season which has been disappointing for me but I know coming here that to play it will not just be a case of turning up and walking into the side. I'm aware it is something that will have to be earned because the club already have some very good strikers."
"Hopefully I can offer a bit more of a presence up front, hold the ball up and get in behind defences. There's a good balance of strikers with different abilities at the club at the moment and I'm just pleased to hopefully being able to add to that."
Stead went on to say, "It's a huge confidence boost for me that a club looking to go places looks to me to help them on their way. Everything at this club has the make up to go places and I'm glad that I am seen as part of that even if it is for the short term."
Stead will probably go straight into the squad to face table topping Newcastle United, the club who signed former 'City striker Leon Best, whose departure made Stead's move possible said "Any player wants to play at the best stadiums, of which St James' Park is one, and you want to play against the best players. Newcastle are top of the league at the moment and it will be a very difficult game but with Coventry in such good form at the moment there is no reason why we cannot go there and get some type of result."
