Steele Decision Awaited

A decision is expected to whether Luke Steele will extend his stay at Coventry City. Signed as an emergency keeper from West Brom, the former Man Utd keeper played against Luton but gashed his knee in a first half incident and has not featured since.

With Rafa Gonzalez released after it emerged that City would have to pay Malaga £500k if he played in a first team game, Micky Adams is desperately short of goalkeeping cover for Andy Marshall who needs a knee operation and will have make a decision about Steele as his loan expires tomorrow.

Steele told the CT: "I will just see what happens. I can't really look beyond the loan just yet - I am just happy to be here and getting the opportunity to play. "If something more happens then I would be more than happy to carry on because it is a great club and I do love it here.

"I came here at the start of the season and was on the bench for the first game at home to Sunderland, and then West Brom signed me, which was a decision I had to make.

"I wanted to leave Manchester United at the time and that was a more permanent deal rather than just a loan, so, as much as I wanted to stay with Coventry, I decided to go to Albion. But then Bryan Robson was sacked a few weeks later and the new manager hasn't really given me my chance yet so I was more than happy to get out on loan, and there was no better place than coming back to Coventry.

"I am here for a couple of weeks initially on an emergency loan, and it is great for me because I haven't played first-team football for a while, so hopefully I can get a few games and help the team do well."

Steele whose face lit up when he heard "Steeley give us a wave" chants from the City supporters at Luton and was a sub not used in West Brom's 5-0 win over City added: It is funny how things work out. "When you are on the bench you don't always feel as passionate about your team winning so it wasn't difficult to suddenly switch back to being a Coventry player a few days later, and I obviously want Coventry to win every game now.
"
A big part of me is still with Coventry and I think it always will be, so I am really happy to be here again. "And I was so annoyed and upset that we lost my first game back. "It is a great club with really great fans who proved that again at West Brom where they sang all the way through the game despite the scoreline. "That gives players a lift and it has made me want to return."
