Luke Steele is to make his Coventry City debut against Gillingham at Highfield Road tonight. Peter Reid dropped Scott Shearer after the Leeds defeat and told the Coventry Evening Telegraph: "I have told the kid he is playing, because I think it is right that we give him a chance. "I just feel Scott needs a bit of a rest but he is still very much in my plans and I am sure he will bounce back."
"Andrew Whing will come into the side and I have got every confidence in the boy. "I have been impressed with him and it is a chance for him to get his season going. He is a good footballer who just needs strengthening up a little bit, but I am sure he will do a great job."
"We have got a few lads struggling with knocks from the weekend but hopefully they will be all right. "What I have got in my mind is that these next two games are going to be hard. I know the supporters will be looking at Gillingham and Rotherham and thinking six points, but it doesn't work like that.
"It is a similar situation to when we played Torquay and we have just got to be patient, get the ball down and have the confidence to play our football.
"If we can do that and not get anxious, I think we can do quite well but they are not going to be easy. But I am confident that we have got enough players in the team who can handle the ball to get the results we need."
