Iain Dowie feels that there is still plenty to play for. Said the City boss to the CT: "I would be disgusted if at any time in my tenure there wasn't a relevance to any game," he explained - determined that the season doesn't fade into insignificance in the last few games.
Still Plenty Left - Dowie
"I really do believe that because people part with hard-earned money to come to watch the team. "It is an entertainment sport and the minimum I require is a shift. "We have done that in the last six games and we want the rest of the season to be the same.
"We have set standards and you can't switch it on and off, or afford to have off games, and the reason we have done well is because we haven't let the standards slip, and that is all credit to the lads.
"We must test ourselves against the best and compete against the worst, if that's the case, but it is a very even division as we have seen with Hull and Norwich both beating Birmingham.
"We have got a lot of very relevant games and we want to have a hand in all those things.
"We want people to look at Coventry and think that won't be an easy game. "You have to have reliability and we have got to be relied upon to have a say in the promotion and relegation issues."
The end of this season also has great relevance for the start of next. "We want to set a standard and there is a feel good factor about the place and we want to make sure there is an expectancy next season that Coventry are going to challenge.
"That's got to be our aim so we have got to finish strongly and we want our form from now until the end of the season to mirror what it has been thus far.
"I am sure we will win and lose games before the end of the season - that happens - but what we must do is make sure our form over a period of time has a consistent level of productivity and that we are ultra competitive.
"Football is a unique sport in that you can dominate games and still lose.
