Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that Chris Stokes is doing fine, a year afer the defender made the move from non-league football.
Speaking about Chris Stokes to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Tony Mowbray said: “His personality and attitude to football have given him a really good chance to build a career.
“I’m pleased that he’s jumping the hurdles in front of him. I’d like to think that if we progress as a football club there are some much bigger hurdles for him to jump, but at this moment he’s doing fine.
“He’s still a long way off the finished article from what I would like but I think it’s a great credit to him that he’s played more football than anyone in the team.
“As other people have found out, I don’t pick players if they don’t perform. He’s had some days when he’s maybe been very fortunate to have played the next game but, generally, his level of consistency in his performance has been high enough to keep him in the team and keep playing, and I think he’s getting stronger and better.
“The spell he played at left centre-half showed he can cope with that position as well, that he has got the physicality to do that as well, so I have been really pleased with him.
“He just has to keep going, keep progressing. Let’s see how he finishes these last 15 games and see where we finish as a club.”
