The Supreme Court is the only option left to Coventry City's owners Otium Entertainment Group, Sky Blue Sports & Leisure and debenture holders Arvo Master Trust as the Court of Appeal refused permission for the Sisu related companies to appeal the decision made last week in the court of appeal.
Sir Brian Leveson, President of the Queen’s Bench Division, Lord Justice McCombe and Lord Justice Irwin made the ruling at the Court of Appeal in London today and this means that the trio will not have to apply directly to the Supreme Court.
In a press statement, Coventry City Council's Cllr George Duggins, Leader of Coventry City Council and Cllr Gary Ridley, Leader of the Conservative Party, said: “We hope that this will be the last stage of the litigation and that Sisu will accept this as the end of all legal action so that further unnecessary costs are avoided for all parties involved.”
Accoridng to Simon Gilbert, Lawyers for the three companies involved in the action against the City Council and ACL now have 28 days in which to appeal directly to the Supreme Court
City have maintained their stance that the club is not picking up any of the court costs. Many supporters have long been calling for proof on this and are still waiting.
Wasps are maintaining their stance that they will not entertain extending the Sky Blues tenure at the Ricoh Arena while legal action against them continues.
