Danny Swanson feels that Coventry City will learn from their 3-0 defeat to AC Chievo Verona.
Swanson played in the game which saw all the goals come in the first half and substitute Danny Pugh miss a 64th minute penalty.
“We were up against a very good team to be fair,” said Swanson to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner who is the only journalist on this year's tour.
“They were technically very, very good but I thought we did well. We passed the ball well and pressed well, which the gaffer wants but I think their class showed.
“They had some big lads and a few smaller ones as well, but they can handle themselves and were very strong but that’s what happens when you play against players from the top leagues.
"We struggled at times but at other times we did well, so we can take good things out of the game as well.”
As for the early set-back which saw the hosts score from a free-kick with just a minute on the clock, he said: “We gave away the ball in a silly area and we should have just gone long.
“The boy hit the ball really well, straight into the top corner, so these things happen.
“We spoke about the second goal afterwards which came from a good move from them down the left.
"But the position, defensively, when we have got the ball has to be better because we were caught out of shape and that’s what cost us. But that’s why we’re here, to play against these kinds of teams and work on it.
“I thought the lad had taken a dive at the time because he made a bit of a meal of it but Dan said afterwards that he didn’t know if he’d got the ball, so it might have been the right decision.
“It was just the way the guy went down that was frustrating a little bit because I saw enough of that in the World Cup.
“It would have been nice to get one back. I know Dan (Pugh) is very good from set-piece but it’s just one of those things.
"We could have had maybe a couple from open play if we’d have taken the right options, but we didn’t, but that’s just a bit of rustiness.”
