A late starter, turning to refereeing in the mid 1990's after being cajoled into running the line for a Police Cup tie, Mr Swarbrick has risen up the ranks and now referees Premier League matches with his last being Fulham's 0-0 draw with Sunderland.
So far this season, he has had 19 matches and shown 55 yellow cards and two red before his scheduled game on Boxing Day which was Tranmere versus Sheffield Wednesday.
His last City game was the 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at the Ricoh in March. and previous City matces he has refereed are: The 1-1 home draw with Bristol City in September 2009, the 2-2 home draw with Nottingham Forest in December 2008, the 1-1 home draw with Southampton in December 2007, the 1-1 home draw with Charlton in September 2007, the 3-1 home win over Sheffield Wednesday in November 2006 and the 1-0 win at Hull City in August 2006,
