Coventry City are being reported as having agreed a compensation fee for Aidy Boothroyd with Colchester United and talks are underway with a view to him replacing Chris Coleman as first team manager.
Colchester United have officially reported on their website that permission has been given for City to speak to the former Watford manager saying: "Following an approach from Coventry City to speak to Aidy Boothroyd, permission was given to speak to him about their managerial position.
"The two clubs have also agreed a figure for compensation for Aidy's services, should negotiations to appoint him as manager prove successful. "At this moment in time, the U's will not be commenting further".
The Baildon in Yorkshire born Boothroyd certainly does not have the top level playing pedigree and overseas management that Chris Coleman had but he has guided Watford into the Premier League via a win in the 2006 play-offs, an FA Cup Semi-Final and a Championship Play-Off Semi-Final place in 2008.
At Colchester, where he was appointed in September 2009, he won 41% of the matches he was in charge for but the side drifted out of the play-offs as the season progressed.
