Target Still Mid-table By Christmas - Coleman

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman is sticking to his target of a mid-table place by Christmas.

The Sky Blues have not won at home for six matches and travel to Charlton tomorrow night in seventeenth place in the Championship table.

"Since the start of the season we have promised and promised to deliver," said Coleman to the CT's Andy Turner.

"We have won away and then come home and it has not fallen into place, so I am hoping this transfer window will be a little bit fruitful for us.

"I am also hoping to get a few of the injured boys back and to get a bit more luck to ensure we achieve our target of mid-table by Christmas.

Maybe our fans think I am being negative when I say mid-table but I know what I saw last year when I arrived, and what we ended up with - fourth from bottom - so mid-table is a good first step and achievable even though we are on a bad run.

"We are looking both ways and if we have a good run we can jump to where we want to be but if we have a bad run we will be in the wrong end.

"If we had got the win against Forest that would have put a nice gap between us and the bottom three and two points from the top half.

"I have been here for eight or nine months and when we arrived we were in a relegation battle and we stayed up by the skin of our teeth.

"This year we are trying build and until we have got a squad of players in place we can't say we are ready yet. We are huffing and puffing.

"It is hard for the players who were already here because they know there are going to be changes and they have got to do their best and hopefully come along with us for the ride.

"But we have said from day one that we want to strengthen in every transfer window and if we don't do it in this window it won't be for the want of trying.

"But we could do with a couple of new faces in there to balance the team up."
