A last minute wonder strike by Steve Staunton after Watford had taken the lead in the 83rd minute earned City a share of the spoils at Vicarage Road.
"It was an exceptional strike, a real striker's goal," said Black after the 1-1 draw.
"I suppose when you are a goal down with three minutes to go you are grateful for a point. But I thought the way we played showed our spirit, and we piled forward and didn't give up.
"Overall, until Watford took the lead I thought we had done enough to merit a victory, but we hadn't scored the goals."
