Coventry born Hall, who was educated at Stoke Park School, joined City's YTS programme in 1992 and had eight seasons playing at Highfield Road. He followed Gordon Strachan to Southampton and also played for Stoke before rejoining City under Micky Adams.
A committee, which includes Coventry City Ladies Chairman Dave Singleton and City supporter Banger Walsh has been set up for a while and a possible game against Celtic or Aston Villa had been muted, although nothing could be done until permission was given by CCFC.
However, yesterday that Ray Ranson and SISU, who reluctant to use the Ricoh Arena for any matches other than League and Cup games, gave their permission for a testimonial game to go ahead.
"I am really, really pleased that the club have granted me a testimonial," said Hall to the CT.
"It is not something I had thought about, to be honest, but quite a few people asked me if I was having one and it got me thinking and I made a few inquiries.
"I wasn't sure at first whether I would be eligible because I had done eight years and then left and come back and done another four, which makes 12 years as a pro.
"But the rules say that they don't have to be consecutive years, as long as you do 10 or more at one club.
"I only got my letter of acceptance from the club yesterday and I would like to thank the chairman Ray Ranson and SISU. "Now the committee will get their heads together and try to sort a few things out but obviously it will be at the Ricoh Arena and probably towards the end of the season in April/ May time.
"It would be nice to get a few of the old lads together who I have played with over the years and hopefully we can put on a good game for the fans."
