The Dressing Room Is Disappointed - Mowbray

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray said that there was disappointment in the dressing room after the Sky Blues allowed Walsall back into the game and were force to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “The dressing room is hugely disappointed because of the nature of the game. “We were in control for an hour against a very good side – they’ve got some quality players which is why they are where they are in the league.

“They controlled it in the last 20 minutes or so – they pushed us deep which is what we do to teams most weeks – and yet although they became more expansive we were still creating very chances; their keeper made an amazing save from Adam Armstrong and Jim O’Brien put it wide at the back stick when he had half the goal to aim at.

“You’ve got to respect the opposition – if you push too high all of a sudden they are plying round you – but I thought we defended our box well and even though they had the ball at times I felt we were comfortable in our shape. I’m not sure of the official stats but it feels like they scored with their only shot on target – one good ball into the box, a little nick, and it’s in the net.

“I’m sorry we couldn’t get the three points for them but owe have another opportunity against Burton at the weekend. That’s another massive game against a totally different team.

“I put the two games into a bracket “Against a team who can retain the ball for long periods it can be difficult to organise your side when you’ve got two hugely creative players but you need that extra discipline out of possession.

“Young James is an unbelievable talent and we’re going to need that creativity, the magic he can sometimes produce, at the weekend. He’s been out for five months with a broken ankle so we felt it was the right thing to do.”
