Now that Coventry City's manager Aidy Boothroyd has ended his interest in Orlando Smeekes, he will have to concentrate on finding a quality player to wear the vacant number 9 shirt.
Boothroyd is also looking for a replacement number 11 and an experienced centre half.
Boothroyd said to the CT: "The No.9 shirt is the obvious one to fill. We have got Roy O'Donovan and Freddy Eastwood to play up front at the moment. I see Gary McSheffrey more as a wide left player and we are still plugging away trying to get players in."
When Coventry City Football club released the squad numbers yesterday, The numbers 5, 9, 11 and 13 were all left vacant. With the team failing to score in heir last two pre season friendly games, both against lowly opposition, Boothroyd is determined to find that elusive striker who can score goals regularly.
