Gary Deegan has started training with his new team mates and has already left an impression on some of them in the form of bumps and bruises.

Deegan told them he is known as the Pit Bull because he is a bit of a terrier.

When asked about his aggressiveness he said, "Yes, why not, let them know I am here! It was bit of a welcome to Coventry. "Bohs' fans called me Deegs but the boys at home call me The Pit Bull, a little terrier you know. They used to say 'let him off the leash'. I don't let anything faze me. I just come in and play my game.

"I love the physical side of the game but I like to think I am good on the ball and a good passer who can create a few things. I was a Manchester United fan as a kid," he said breaking into a smile. They were always winning."

"I loved Roy Keane and think he is great. He's a player who I resemble a bit myself. I have got fire in me belly and if I can achieve half of what he has done I would be happy. I am a box to box player and like to get forward to get a few goals myself as well. I like to pass it quick and when I don't have the ball I work as hard as when I have got the ball."

His new manager wasn't bothered about Deegan upsetting some of his other players, saying, "He definitely fits into that category, On his first day of training he upset one or two and I don't think he was too bothered about it. But that's just him, he sees the ball, he's got a good will to win and a bit of aggression and we don't want to take that away from him. I am certainly not going to tell him to calm down."

"We are not going to tell him to go around kicking people and getting sent off but that's part of his game. He's competitive so we don't want to take that away from him."

Coventry City had been watching the Irishman for some time and asked him if he would be interested in having a trial at 'City. So impressive was he that Chris Coleman said, "The deal we had was that we wanted to have a look at him for a few days but he had one session here and we said, 'let's do it,' and it was done very quickly. We had been watching him and as soon as he became available again we jumped in."
