Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that the 1-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic was the story of the last three months.
“That’s been the story for the last three months really,” said the City boss to the Coventry Telegraph. “I don’t think that many teams, if any, have played us off the pitch and yet we are coming up a bit short.
“We’re not scoring goals although it’s almost the same personnel who were scoring freely in the first half of the season.
"I think the grind of this league is taking its toll on a few now – they’re not as bright, as energetic, as fast and alert as they were and yet I thought they worked hard enough.
“There was no lack of endeavour – I can’t question their desire or their effort for the football club – but the result is all that people see and we’ve lost another tight game.
“Last week we thought we should have won at Gillingham and we only got a draw and this week I’m not sure we deserved to lose the match. It could have been a tight game that we won 1-0 but there are certain ingredients missing from the group at the moment that is preventing us doing that and I’ve made it clear to them what I think that is.”
