The Substitutes Worked Well - Boothroyd

Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd was pleased with the contribution made his substitutes this afternoon in their 3-0 win against Barnsley.

Two of the substitutes - Carl Baker and Jordan Clarke scored in the last six minutes of the match and speaking to the Press Association after the victory, the City boss said: "I thought we deserved the win overall. Sometimes when substitutes go on it doesn't work all the time but today it worked perfectly.

"It was my decision in the end but they were suggestions from (coaches) Martyn Pert and Steve Harrison (pictured below)- one Carl Baker and one Jordan Clarke - so well done to them.

"Perhaps you could say I am good listener.

"What it shows as a squad is that those who don't start the game are as important and influential, if not more so, than those that do. I am really pleased with that because it's easy to sulk when you are not in the team.

"You are always wary because as players get tired mistakes can creep in and even in the last couple of minutes, we gave ourselves too much to do.

"That's the learning process we are in and when it's half-time and you've played so well and it's only 1-0, you've got to get up and go again.

"We had a little sticky patch but we were well worth it in the end."
