Coventry City are looking at defender Stephen Wright. The former Liverpool player who was signed by Peter Reid for Sunderland has been released and is available on a free transfer.
The right back started playing league football at Crewe where he made 14 appearances, His England U21 debut followed in August 2000 and he has made seven appearances plus two sub for the team now run by former Sky Blue Stuart Pearce.
The 28 year old made his Liverpool debut also in 2000 and had 15 starts before being sold to Sunderland in 2002. He went on to make 99 appearances for The Mackems but last season, he was loaned out to promotion winning Stoke City for whom he made 15 appearances.
City Chairman Ray Ranson said about Wright who played in the friendly win in Wolfsegg, Austria on Friday night: "Stephen is having a look at us and the manager is having a look at him."
