Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has blamed naivety on City’s away form which has seen the Sky Blues not record an away win this season and only once since he took over from Aidy Boothroyd.
Speaking to the CT’s Alan Poole, Thorn said: “We certainly don’t like travelling, do we,” said Thorn, “and it’s hard to put your finger on why.
“I’ve sat down and looked at it and I can’t believe we’ve gone this long without a win. And I think that anyone who travels away and sees us play would agree.
“We prepare the same way, we try different things in the game, we’ve tried everything but it just hasn’t fallen for us.
“Sometimes players are different characters away from home. I don’t want to keep going on about it but I think sometimes younger boys are more comfortable at home than in an away environment. A lot of goals we have conceded away have been down to naivety – a lot!
“We haven’t been played off the park, we haven’t been battered – apart from at Ipswich – so I’m really surprised we haven’t won away. But I’m sure we will; we have to concentrate on maintaining our home form and improving away.”
