Coventry City manager Andy Thorn was left feeling disappointed after Coventry City’s 2-1 defeat to Southampton at the Ricoh Arena.
Speaking to Sky Blue Player, Thorn said: "I thought we had enough chances in the first half to put the game to bed but we didn't take them and it has cost us.
"They took their chances well and we are disappointed to not get a replay, let alone the win. Two poor goals to concede from our point of view and it was that desire to score which separated the two sides.
"We did have a lot of chances but if you watch us play, we seem to miss our chances and we just didn't have it so we got punished in the end.
"The form in the league has been alright and the way we played in the first-half, I thought that was going to continue.
"We didn't take our chances in the game but once again, I can't fault the lads effort as that is one thing they keep giving this season and they deserve praise this season.
"Good commitment as well but we were poor today so we have to perform better next week and pick ourselves up for the game.
"Hopefully we can bring someone in as it is evident we need something to put into the side. The side did well today but they had a little more quality in the final third and it cost us.
"I am just really disappointing to be going out at this early stage and hopefully we can do better in the future.”
