Thorn Glad Not To Lose Key Players

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that he is glad he did not lose key players before the transfer window closed on Tuesday night.

There had been speculation over a number of City players but apart from Roy O’Donovan being loaned to Hibernian, all the speculation never amounted to a serious bid for any player.

Andy Thorn did, however, get one of his targets in Manchester United’s 20 year old Oliver Norword and the City boss told the CT’s Andy Turner: “Oliver’s a very bright young talent who can play in couple of positions.

“I must admit I was feeling a bit twitchy on Tuesday because, as usual, there were all sorts of rumours flying around, so it’s great news that we’re not losing anybody.

“They are the sort of players we need to get out of this; Richard and Martin were absolutely immense against Blackpool, but then everybody gave it everything they’ve got.

“Hermann Hreidarsson put his shoulder out during the game but he just put it back in and got on with it.

"That’s the kind of man he is – that’s the kind of spirit we’ve got in this team and I think that’s why the fans have stayed so loyal despite our league position.”
