Only three arrests were made before, during and after Coventry City's defeat to Leicester on Saturday.
One man was arrested outside the ground before kick off and two arrested in a car park after the match, two of those arrested were City fans.
PC Dave Mapp told the Coventry Telegraph, "It was a very strong policing operation, everything worked out the way we expected.
"The amount of planning and communication between the football club and the police ensured the day went smoothly.
"We also worked with Warwickshire Police, Leicestershire Police and the British Transport Police to make sure we knew where people were going and when."
