Amidst concerns that drugs are fuelling agression amongst fans at football matches, it has been confimed that three arrests were made during Coventry City's defeat to Burton Albion on Friday night for drugs.
The arrests were made outside of the hospitality boxes in the main stand at the Ricoh Arena and followed a drugs detection dog from West Midlands Police picking up five indications of cocaine possession.
The "positive, pro-active and overt" operation was run by West Midlands Police's Inspector Andy Bridgwater who told the Independent that there is a really strong correlation today between cocaine use and football-related violence.
DCC Roberts also spoked to the newspaper and said about what could be done with regard to a problem in society with cocaine now being relatively affordable: "Intrusive searches are a non-starter but greater use of drug detection dogs is a positive option."
