Coventry City's Marcus Tudgay has backed Ruben Lameiras following his penalty miss at Rochdale on Tuesday night.
The miss saw City knocked out of the League Cup at the first time of asking and speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Tudgay who scored City's goal and had two disallowed said: "He’s only a young lad and he’s probably going to miss a few more in his career.
“He was a man out there to step up in the first place. I have done it in the past and you have to dust it off. You know what you have done, respect it and go again.
“There were some very good penalties and we never even practised them. Some managers swear by it and others don’t bother, just turn up on the night and if you get one make sure you stick it away.
“Most players should be able to take a penalty. It comes down to confidence but it just wasn’t meant to be.”
