Coventry City remain in ninth place in the Championship after Preston North End's 3-1 victory tonight over Ipswich Town in a re-arranged game. The Tractorboys had Miller sent off but led thanks to a 38th minute De Vos goal. Preston came back in the second half with a brace from David Nugent and one from Patrick Aygemang. The win lifts the Lillywhites into sixth place leap-frogging Wolves and puts them nine points ahead of the Sky Blues.

In Division Two, former City Reserves defender Michael Briscoe scored the winning goal as Macclesfield beat Wrexham 3-2.
Aston Villa are out of the FA Cup, they were beaten 2-1 at Manchester City in a fifth reound replay. Samaras and Vassell scored for Stuart Pearce's side
with Davis netting a consolation for Villa.
Locally,it was a busy night of football. In the Conference North, Nuneaton Borough drew 2-2 at home to Droylesden. In the Midland Alliance, Leamington lost 2-0 at home to leaders Malvern Town and Racing Club Warwick were beaten 4-2 at Loughborough.
Games in the Midland Combination Premier Division saw Massey Ferguson were beaten 1-0 at Meir KA with Coventry Sphinx's game at Barnt Green Spartak postponed.
